| 2003-08-24/10:09 p.m. Day one 6:19, Aug 23, 2003: Today I moved down to Dayton. Yes that’s right I’m no longer a li’l Cleveland girlie, I’m a college kid with people to see and things to do. So wait… why the hell am I here right now? Because I’m killing time before my floor meeting and avoiding all the stupid orientation stuff that I’m supposed to be going to. Instead I’m taking the cd laura gave me and burning the songs onto my comp. A little shout out to both Rachel and Laura… HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hopefully soon I will go out and mail the cards I have for you, but nothing is like making me really want to. I’m really liking it here so far. It seems like a really cool place and the people are all really nice. It turns out that my room is Erin S’s from last year. She looked for me to help me move in to my room. The returning college students have the opportunity of moving in early to help the freshman with their orientation. I thought that the whole moving in thing would be really scary, but it worked really well. I got everything in within an hour and everything basically unpacked in like 2 hours. Mom, Dad and I went to Wal-Mart to pick up the stuff that I forgot… because we all know what kind of stuff was forgotten, or merely omitted from packing… like a fan and a entertainment center for the TV and DVD player. I’m a stupid kid so you’ll have to forgive me. I also got a bunch of my books, including my Chemistry stuff. Gosh books are expensive especially when they really don’t offer any kind of used books. Absolutely ridiculous. The other problem was that they didn’t have my Calc stuff, which just really messes me up b/c I would really have liked to have that stuff. Whatever, the bookstore will figure it out. My parents have left and they will not be returning for the other orientation stuff that I’m supposed to be attending. I completely missed the whole Dean’s address and stuff like that, and I don’t think that I’m going to the President’s address/mass tomorrow morning. But I have to go to the stupid convocation, and get this I have to DRESS UP! It’s a good thing that I brought the outfit that I had been wearing on Wednesday so I totally am set. But I hate that I have to dress up for some stupid tradition. I love you all, and I miss you all already, and I’ve only been gone from the L-Wood for a li’l over 12 hours. I hope everyone is adjusting well. Day 2: I woke up and showered. Always nice to feel nice and clean right? Then I wandered around looking for all my classes and I found a new friend. She's really cool. Her name is Amanda and she's a commuter, which means that she totally has a car so hopefully I'll be getting off campus pretty often. I really like her though. She and I hung out until we had to go to these orientation meeting things. those were interesting. I hope tomorrow's is the same. Whatever, it doesn't really matter. Life won't end if I don't have a good time at them you know? It's obviously supposed to motivate us to do something right? If it doesn't then it doesn't. But I hope that everything is going well with you all. I'm sure I'll talk to you all later. I love you lots, and miss you more. -Kates Open up your eyes...
